wills new 190 ponton/rat rod????
wills new 190 ponton/rat rod????
New toy 1956 190 ponton gas for $450 delivered from Wyoming I got it for parts but think it may become a rat rodded vintage rally car hey it's ugly but it runs drives and stops
I plan on striping out the interior and only keeping the seats all else will go wiring gauges and any thing non functional custom gauges and wiring harness
Body wise I will replace both front fender and the grill and give it a patina paint job probably shave all of the trim and install a fuel cell in the trunk! a roof rack loaded with vintage rally junk and such and a trunk rack with an old suit case
Engine wise a tune up and probably a carburetor replacement it has a 2bb carb so I'm thinking a Weber down draft will bolt up?
some day a 190sl manifold with 2 Weber DCOE 40 side drafts!
some thing like this but more vintage looking like it was lost in a barn for 30 years!
That could be a cool RAT Rod with allot of time and Parts...got to have a grill!
Saved it form going to scrap!
what really bums me out is that two months ago there where two of these same cars at the u pull and pay yard that had every part I need and now they are gone!

I got it running this weekend it idles perfectly smooth but if I Even touch the throttle it would backfires out the carb I couldn't even rev it over 1000 rpm it also has a 2bbl carb of of a ford v8 or something witch has got to go!
I need to find a weber progressive down draft carburator!
I tried to play with the timing it had a 0-20 mark on the balancer it was set a 14* I turned it to about 1 on the other side of the 0 mark and I was able to actually rev it up and drive it with a lot less back firing it only back fires if you give it to much throttle but the distributor is sized in the aluminum casting I need to free it up to really set the timing!
How did the project work out for you? Would be nice to see some pics, I also have a ponton “rat rod“, you can see pics of it here: http://www.garaget.org/?car=250090
I traded this car for a 1964 220s fintail with a brand new engine
