Hi all
Just want to share my progress at controlling the 722.6 fully electronic gearbox width the Arduino Mega and my own PCB and programming.

Here is a little video showing the Manuel mode
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw2tKdLJvl0

Here showing the menu system
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH0kkp6WSss

There is still some work to do but works great in both automatic and manuel mode :-)

Good to see. Is the controller integrated with the PCS tcu and you are doing adjustments through your interface? Or did you develop your own tcu.

Hi No it is totally on its own, on the picture to the left you see the mosfets controlling the walve width different PWM, depending on load and so on, but i think you know all about that ;-)

The main reason is that i have full control over TPS and boost giving me the momentum from the engine, and you can have the LCD in the car all the time.

Looks cool. Not quite as much control over the transmission in the scaling but functional. Did you sell the PCS setup. There is new firmware now and soon to be even newer. For tuning in the car you can use the PCS touchscreen data logger. It will also do boost control. It would probably do the the electronic rack also. I have not looked into that. I used my tcu for boost control though for a long time.
I like it though. Simple and to the point. And it looks like it is doing all features for you. What are the shifts like? I finally got all the scaling for the pressures and temperatures really nice on my cars.

Hi
The shifts are totally smooth to wery hard depending on how i adjust it.
The shift points are a parabolic curve, as you know i want it to shift almost at the same speed from 0% TPS to 25% TPS and so on and then it gets steeper and steeper the more TPS you give it.

Regarding the shift Firmness i only have 2 point to start width, and a line in between. and that is calculated, depending of TPS + Boost
And can be controlled individual in up and down shift
As the TPS is calculated, in my case 35% and the boost the rest 65%.

Very cool. Looks like a lot of work. But I like the adjustability and the fact that it works with your other features. I have to say that I am tired of driving around with a laptop. That is why I am finally getting a datalogger for myself. I just wish that it would tune my engine also. But I normally do not have to mess with that very often. I am going to have the datalogger docked in both of my cars. So I can switch back and forth really easy.

I know. Sometimes it is better just not to know. When I think of how much time I have invested in things. I could get a part time job at the grocery store and make enough money to drive a new Ferrari. Honestly though I like the projects as much as the final product. Looks like you are in the same sick boat.

Hi again

Done some more work on the controller today, actually now driving it in the car.

It is fun work when it works :-)

Here is a test in automatic mode.

so i know you have that little button. do you think you'll be able to incorporate the stock snifter to shift in manual mode? or will it be some other system like a paddle shift?

Yes i had the little joystick just for testing.
Left = Esc.
Rigth = Enter
Up = Up and in Manuel mode upshift
Down = Down and in Manuel mode Downshift
But it would make totally sence to use paddleshifter for up and down.
Regarding the shifter. in automatic mode, it do downshift if you are in 4 gear and pull the leaver in to 3 then it will shift down to 3.
But are you thinking of the newer leaver where you have the +/- sign ?

Ha Ha no problem.
The controller now know witch gear you are in P-R-N-D-4-3-2-1
But i actually only need to know PRND, for it to work.

If you think race, 2 simple microswitch on any shifter would work. (manual mode)

Just mountet the SLK 55 AMG gearbox on my OM606.
As it comes from a V8 i had to change the Converter housing and the converter.
Thanks to Drake for the description.
I has totally great shifts :-)
But the bad thing is that there is still issues in 3 to 4 gear, damn. but better as the old ones.

Stock transmissions can handle a lot more torque with standalone control because of pressure control. But they are limited to around 5-600 wtq if you are trying to put it down with drag slicks.
But you will be braking almost all of the drive line components before the trans. And these numbers are related to heavier cars than ours. The chrysler lx cars are 4,000 lbs and this is about their limit.

somebody ever thought about a 722.362 this is on the 600 se v12 it weight is 2180 kg (4806 lbs)
that engine has 580nm and 408hp and the gearbox is not electronic
and it is not very expensive in europe

greets johan

(12-29-2011, 02:57 PM)olefejer Just mountet the SLK 55 AMG gearbox on my OM606.
As it comes from a V8 i had to change the Converter housing and the converter.
Thanks to Drake for the description.
I has totally great shifts :-)
But the bad thing is that there is still issues in 3 to 4 gear, damn. but better as the old ones.

What is stronger in the 722.636 comparing to the standard 722.626 from 606 turbodiesel?
If to read this document http://www.scribd.com/doc/79543640/722-6 on page 10.
It says that quite many gearboxes have the same number of friction and steel discs as the 722.636. It seems that v8 over 5 liters and all v12 have the W5A580 gearbox. Also from looking at different scrapyards it seems that the 722.636 also was in the 270cdi. But w210 with 606td has the W5A580. At least if the document I'm refering to is correct.

Which of all these gearboxes should be the strongest?

Edit:
Sorry my bad. Standard transmission in 300td seems to be 722.608 and should be a W5A330.

So the 722.636 and the 722.626 are the best for handling with high torque?
How much can they hold?

Thanks
