Eurotuning's w123
Eurotuning's w123
So in resume the better performance in a w123 gasoline or diesel its:
2-w126 front 2 piston calipers with breakpads
2-r107 back 4 piston calipers with breakpads
4-12 inches discs (i found they are 5x112mm and not 114 like in w123)
Custom breaks lines
And.. thats it right! Seems to me very economic even if you install them brand new, you will be spending maybe $800 as much, but if you want AMG, Brembo or Wilwood you have to be ready to spend at least $3000 plus the headake of making adaptations (McGivers)
I think thats what i am going to do.
This is my ride, i am pretty close of finishing the rebuilt but i have been thinking a lot about breaks.

Quote:So your using r107 calipers in the rear?
WOW..That is beautiful just as it sits!!
What are your plans for powering this car??
I see the rollcage peeping out...
I am just in the upgrade process of the breaks, i have hi temp fluid and brake pads, thats why i am doing the research to do it right now.
Power, used to be M102 with turbo GT1549 and Bosch Motronic, now is GT2870rs (disco potato) with Megasquirt 3x with all the features you want to imagine. The roll cage now its going to protect the 2 rear seats, these pictures are one year ago but now its all set up inside, attached are some pics of the 2 rear seats, for the 2 in the front are racing approved seatswith the same pattern and materials but i have pics of those. Now its a family car again!

That is very pretty. I have never liked that grill on any car, until now....
The interior is from ?
The r107 4pots on the front has never been confirmed. They were only available on the post face lift r107 which uses a different control arm. The early models shared the same with the w123,w126,w116. Make sure you have a friendly return policy! Also I believe you will need a different booster for that to really get the max benefits out of it.

Hi, the interior has leather and high quality vinyl, high desity vinyl (floors) with sound insulator layer, dash in Nomex and the center console panel has been totally changed with a 10 inch touchscreen tablet pc for loading the cluster from the Tuner Studio and covered with vinyl, the bases of the seats are in aluminum custom made with black 4 point racing belts and supports. I am making the covers for the pipes of the roll bars in vynil also but its not a priority.
If you where i, what you will do to upgrade the breaks, its hard to me to make tests since i can access only a lot of w123 parts, thanks for your time and help.

(03-15-2011, 12:14 PM)winmutt 4 pots is better than 2 obviously but given your location it is probably better to go with what we know works, 2ndgen w126.
So the whole set of 2nd gen of w126 sel or sec with 12 inch rotors is the best, i buy every single part for my cars in USA very easy so dont have problems with shipping.
Well its even more cheap and upgrades performance. Thanks man!

Ok amigo, only because you asked, some old pics when i used to race on it.
I know its hard get to know by picture but these are the custom body works of the car, i am trying to keep it the most original possible.
1.Sec style grille and hood
2.Fenders link removable with a bar to work easy in the intercooler and other parts in the front.
3.All mouldings removed and sealed.
4.No more room for the rear tire, its flat and that piece has been cutted and welded a plate, losted some pounds in the back.
5.Dual exhaust space for the mufflers.
6.Fenders wide out 1 inch to fit easily the 225x50x16 tires.

That car looks awesome!
Those pics are very nice. Its not actually a carlsson is it?
The rear brakes are the same on the 123 and all 126. Just stick with what you have. What are you doing for suspension and swaybars?
(03-16-2011, 09:45 AM)garage What is the front bumper from on the racing pics?

Hi, its not a Carlsson, just has the rims that they put on the Carlsson versions, but it was like a replica or tuning style.
Suspension we tried many thinks during the process, we installed in the front Blistein shocks and the springs are Eibach, in the rear suspension we end up using Vw vanagon springs shortened (dunno the model but i can figure out) since they are very strong, the rear socks are Blistein.
Sway bar was modified to make it adjustable, dont try coil overs because reduces a lot the comfort of the car and the rebound is really bad for street driving, to give you an idea the car is very rigid but still can drive it in the street, other cars that are prepared for racing are impossible to drive in street.
I know you guys like the turbos so this is a picture of it.
