So does anyone know what the input to the ELR motor on the back of the injection pump is? For example is it DC voltage between 0-12, or is it some kind of PWM signal.

I am trying to figure out if I am going to attempt to build a controller to help regulate the idle or am I just going to fine tune the idle using the throttle linkage. A controller would be way cooler.

Thanks in advance.

You can set the idle by adjusting the coarse idle screw up a turn or two and adjusting the fine idle screw.

Yeah I know. I am doing an engine swap Using on om606 with a 603 pump and just was trying to figure out if I would easily be able to use the ELR considering it is there.

If you want to use ELR, why not use the hole ELR-system.

If i found my multimeter(voltmeter) i could measure on my TDT...

I don't have any of the components, the only thing i have from the 603 is the pump. I have a mirco controller laying around so I was going to just screw around with building a controller.

It's some kind of PWM. I also have 603 pump on 606 and a microcontroller already in the car. Now since I recently changed to manual tranny and weather got colder, the car really needs the ELR system. Got a new connector for the ELR plug today from dealer, maybe I'll find the time to make it work next week. If you haven't built yours at that time, I can tell how it responds to different frequencies and duty %.

Thanks. I have not even gotten started on my swap I have the 606 with the 603 pump running on a test stand. I plan on dropping the engine in, getting it running and driving then worrying about the ELR system. I was just hoping I could find some information before i get started to plan everything out.

Delayed a bit, as this wasn't on my priority list.

The ELR solenoid is 4.0 ohms. As I only need a switch on-off type raised idle, I tried to simplify and forgot about the pwm controller. Just 5 volts through 7805 to the solenoid and that made the idle bit higher, but not that much. Then rose the voltage (diodes between 7805 common and earth) to 7,1 volts and the idle climbed to something like 250 rpms, which is fine for my needs. I'll put a 50 cels thermal switch to the cylinder head to operate this.

If you want to use pwm, I'd say f would be 100..250 and effective duty% 40-70%.

I'm pretty sure you could swap in the whole 603 control system... all that should be needed is the brain box and wire harness. Lots of junked 87 300D's available to borrow from, at least in the USA. The only input required is from L7 (rack position sensor) on the pump and the tach signal.
