Yes you align the crank to TDC (OT on the damper), the align #1 to inlet stroke where both cam lobes are up (more like in & ex lobes are up at about 2-3 o'clock), the gently wind down the bolts in sequence, 180 degrees at a time or whatever it is.

Been reading up on this because I have to pull the lifters and clean them out because it's clackity clack clack at idle..
