(11-14-2012, 07:16 PM)DeliveryValve The w123 and 126 subframe do not interchange. The 126 is wider. The 2nd Gen and 1st Gen subframes share the same front mounting. The 1st Gen rear mounting is located in the middle, while the 2nd Gen rear mount was moved to the left a few inches. I do think you can relocate you bolt holes to make it work.

Thanks for this... I have often wondered how different the 126's were from the 123's...Ive pulled a few diffs from early 126s to get lower gears/check for LSDs and knew they were comparable, but now I know the particulars... I'd bet it could be done with enought time, thought and money(what isn't, eh?)... It'd be nice to retrofit a later 126 rear into the 123.

W123 Mods: 4 speed ** manual climate control ** '85 Kalitucky intake ** manual windows & full tint ** Euro headlights retrofit w/bixenon projectors ** 4 brake light mod ** Vogtland 50mm drop front & Lesjofors S600 drop rear springs ** 16" rims ** late w126 brake spindles, rotors & calipers ** full suspension rehab ** Bilstein HDs ** AL129X alternator & 1/0 starter and charging cables ** 300GD clutch/flywheel ** AFCO 80103N radiator & Earl's 41610 oil cooler ** custom block-off plate, remote oil filter & t-stat ** MW IP w/ tomnik's 6.5mm 'Holly' elements **

S124 Mods: 400E Rear subframe ** SL600 Brakes ** Late 300E 210mm diff ** SLK230 6 speed ** 17" CLK rims ** Vented RF Fender ** Facelift Hood, Headlights, and Lower Cladding **
