Anyone have experience with these? Is it just me or do they look like hemi or pentroof dome pistons with 4 valve reliefs? Definitely a major departure from the stock pistons.

The pistons pictured do not fit an OM617. They are in fact petrol engine 4 valve pistons, not diesel.

The response to my e-mail was yes, stock photo and nobody has used the piston yet.

I asked if it had the double wall below the combustion chamber for enhanced oil cooling that the stock pistons have. I got an "I'll check".

No forged pistons have any such voids in them. It's not possible to manufacture something like that in a forging process.

Solution looking for a problem? Aren't the rods the first thing to go?

Haha... MB start using forged pistons some 50years ago...
They are forged in 2 stages and then friction welded... also rings recess got to be from steel in diesels...
Not saying it wont hold...
