Industrializing an OM606 - llopness - 01-11-2019

I have a skid steer (1990 Hydra Mac 2650D) with an Onan L634 (Cummins 6A) idi 65kw @3600rpm. it's loud, hard to start(stupid stanadyne pump) and has little torque, so has to be revved at least part way to do much.

OM606 addresses all the above issues and can rev higher for potentially faster travel speed on very smooth surfaces.  only drawback would be reducing weight, which might actually be nice as it's very rear heavy and easily tips backwards with an empty bucket.

Can one set up an OM603 Injection pump to be governed?  Is there a controller for the EDC pump where one can easily input governed speed? will the OM606 object to having a PTO belt come off the front?

more of a hypothetical at this point, unless it dies, or I find the Cummins to be worth a pile of money on eBay.  refurbed units appear to be listed for ~$7500.

The DSL1 controller for the EDC pump does have two ways that can be used to govern the speed in a situation like that. Either the cruise control which can be set up to control engine speed or the idle control which can be configured to run the engine at any speed really, and it can have a switch input to toggle between idle and operating speed.

I don't see a 606 fitting in a skid. A 617 maybe... but something line a 4 cylinder Kubota would make more sense... no? There's no way 606 would fit my skid and I have a big Bobcat 843.

This machine is nearly twice that size and we're talking about replacing a 3.4liter straight 6 engine.

can you adjust idle speed via a pot?  can you adjust "cruise" via a pot?

I 'll like being able to tap the idle button (brake pedal) to drop from operating speed to idle and the resume button to return again.

Not currently, but I could make it possible to do that.

It does not work in a machine like that or anyother.
First things first, automotive engines do not provide tq number needed to turn those hidrostatic devices used to move machines. MB uses unimog engine OM35X. If u want a MB engine.
But if u want to have all this assle u need a 603 or 606 engine... a variable load injection pump governor (electronic or mech) de rate the engine , crank snout does not have splines so very hard to use for PTO.
What else....
Use a 4BT or repair orig engine ... ad cold start improve IP
