OM617 Auto trans parts id and help needed - Metzone - 03-25-2018
As some of you know I have been building a 63 Comet with a 1984 OM617 and the 4 speed automatic that came factory.
My questions:
1. Is a more traditional style trans yoke (one that would have the u-joint attached to the splined portion) like a factory USA made car of the same vintage?
2. The cable (see pic) for the kick down and/or shift needs to be replaced, where can I find it?
3. What are the functions of the cable?
4. What is the function of the electrical hookup on the side of the trans?

Jagsthatrun.com offers a mercedes driveshaft adapter plate for $95.00. Make sure to ask what u-joint flange to order to bolt to it.
