OM606 build - Nissan Patrol - Mr.Emo - 07-23-2017

Hello everyone.

I have been browsing these forums for a while trying to figure out what route I should go with my OM606. This is a project I will be starting very soon and firstly it will be swapped into my Nissan Patrol and approved here in Norway. When it has been approved by the state I  will start to do some modifications to get some more out of the engine.

The plans so far is to use the electronic pump together with Baldurs DSL1 unit. In the start the pump will remain with the 6mm element but I will probably upgrade it to 7.5 at Dieselmeken to reduce the injection time.

I have been looking a little bit at DieselPumpUK since they have the gearbox adapter and a clutch I will be using for this conversion. They also offer some turbo kits that offer up to 495 bhp. I will probably not go that high. But I am aiming at 300-350bhp and hopefully with not that much smoke.  The setup from DPUK I am reffering to is the Quickspool kit that uses the stock manifold. The turbo is a BORG warner Billet S200. They do not state ratios of the turbos.

As I stated I've been looking around on the forums and I havn't yet found a solution that would suit me. I have seen the hy/x30, 35 and he341ve, he351ve mentioned.

Does anyone have a suggestion to what would fit in a heavy 4x4 to give it some low end grunt and hopefully with low smoke?

Thanks! Smile

Reserved for later. (Guide for patrol owners perhaps)

For the price of the dpuk kits you could build ur own and save urself 1k. Ive got the standard 605 turbo in my l200. Just rebuilt with larger wheels. Spools very well. But runs out top end. Loads of low down grunt. If you want both then you could do with a compound I reckon. That's where I'm going next. Turbo I have now with either a hx35 or 40. Just gotta be careful with the transfer boxes with too much torque. I imagine the patrols have better boxes than the l200's.

That's what I'm thinking aswell. How did you rebuild them and where did you get parts?

I've been reading about compounding myself, but it seems to be a very big topicand a lot of information to put together. I know there is another person on this forum that went the compound way, but he ditched it in the end.

I know you can get the hx35 with a 10cm housing. What do you think about that? Would that start to build boost in the 1500-2000 range?

He341ve should be very good but is impossible to find.

I will be putting in a gearbox from zd30 hopefully 2004+ which should be able to withstand around 800nM.

I sent my turbo off to a local firm. They did all the re boring and sizing cost about £450 in the end. I'm happy with what they did. If I was going down the single turbo route then I'd be putting in the hx35. It's s good compromise. Wat about a hx35 and supercharger. If you can fit it all in.

I think that is the turbo DPUK supplies with their quickspool kit. So that might be a solution. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I'm planning on using a Garrett gtx for faster spool on a 110 Land Rover
