722.6 cooling! - -Mackan- - 07-12-2016

Hi!

I am using a brand new radiator/atf cooler but it won't keep the transmission fluid temp down enough so I was thinking...

My radiator and atf cooler helps the fluid to reach its operating temp faster so I guess that's good but what if I do this?

Transmission----->radiator cooler--------->air to atf cooler with fan--------->back to transmission.

Or should I skip the radiator cooler?

The air to atf cooler I've found is a 30row cooler with a fan.

Edit: when crusing I have no temp issues at all but when I push it for long periods I the temp rises and during burnouts the temp climbs very fast. That's what I'm trying to cure.

Skip the radiator cooler, many powerful 722.6 versions have air to atf cooler because it's way more effective. Radiator cooler is heating coolant so it reduces engine cooling also.

Alright I bought a 30row cooler with a 7" fan with air duct time will tell if it's enough Smile

Do you use a thermostat along with your air to atf cooler?

ATF is not like lube oil and so the cooler the better. but I am going to fit a temp switch into a hydraulic fitting adapter just so the fan doesn't come on immediately with ignition because othersise starter/glowplugs/fan drawing current might cause starting problems in cold winter?

I got 9" SPAL fan from Triumph motorbike in Mocal 30-row with no ATF heat probs.
