end gear ratio - Turbo - 07-10-2016

what is the lowest end gear ratio that can be find and fit to mercedes s210?

exploring the possibility to fit a Lenco st1200 transmission to my om606, but at daily drive I do not want it to rev high and since Lenco is  1:1 so end gear need to have very low ratio.

the lowest mercedes end gear I seen is the USA E420 ratio 2.24, but need be able to handle like 1300Nm input

any input is highly appreciated

W220 S400CDI has 2.47 and it fits to s210, only differences are rear cover and driveshaft/propshaft flanges which are all bolt on from s210 270cdi/320cdi/v8 diff. 1:1 is same as 4th gear with 722.6, E300td has 2.87 diff so 2.65 from 320cdi or 2.47 from 400cdi would be ok.

Hello ERX
Thanks for the input
well I think it will rev to much with even the 2.24, but I need to ask Lenco more about available gear ratio since I at this time do not really get it, and specially about over drive.
I do wonder if the 400cdi end gear will like the 1300Nm and slicks

Another way to go is
A enhanced tremec T56 magnum with 0,63 at 6 gear and end gear and of the cl 600, or why not change all the suspension from a cl600 later then 2003 if it is possible.
I guess this would be nice but the raw acceleration with a Lenco set up would be very interesting to explore for some real drag racing,

Do you have any idea if the cl600 biturbo back end will in any way fit the s210?

722.3/4 last gear is 1:1, I have a 2.88 in my SDL and it runs about 2900 rpm at 70mph. The 2.65 would have been closer to 2600, so 2.47 would be a good choice. I'm still getting 27-29 mpg at 70mph despite it being somewhat high rpm

RE: end gear ratio - EDH_Performance - 07-22-2016

i have a w140 420e diff in my garage, it has a 4bolt hardy coupling (4+4 boltpattern) and it weighs a ton! Ratio is 1:2.2something, have had a look inside and it is beefy!
So i dont think you will destroy it With than kind of torque....Think problem is rather wheelspin
