MTDI Bosch VE won't shut off - Fishman - 07-08-2016

Hi,

I've build a mechanical Bosch VE pump for a 2.5 R5 TDI. Basepump is a Rover Mechanical TDI pump. Engine runs great, but when i want to shut her off, she keeps running irregular. Pump is tested, nozzels are tested en stopselenoid is tested. All ok. Anybody a idea what's wrong?

the pump should shut off when 12v is taken away from the solenoid. Do you have voltage at the solenoid when it's shutoff?

No voltage at de cut off valve. I can disconnect the batterie an she keeps running.

Hmmm, that is interesting. Are all the parts and pieces in the shutoff solenoid?

Yess. Even fitted an other one.

Any picture of the pump? There are several different styles of VE pumps,
Some I have seen have mechanical stops

From what i can see your problem is either the stop solenoid, or there is another hole that the fuel goes through, or the seat of the valve leaks. Maybe you have the push type solenoid ? Have you tried applying power to shut it down ?

The pump makes too high pressure. The distance between the pumping element piston and the "end screw" is too little. increase the distance by installing a thinner shim between the camplate and piston..

That is a very common cause of such problem.

I had the pressure tested and it was way to low. They shimmed it to a higher pressure. Before i didn't get any black diesel smoke. Now i do. I can shut it off with the mechanical lever.

Wow, not common to see mechanical pump with injection advance selenoid.
