External wastegate - bruno_pinho - 08-23-2015

Hi

Can show how control your external wastegate?

What engine are you asking about? The OM606.962 has a vacuum controlled wastegate - the ECU controls a vacuum transducer, the more vacuum the more the wastegate is held closed.

None of it,I want to know is how to use a manual boost controller in an external wastegate..
Like for example, the external wastegate has a spring 1.5bar and I want to do 2.3bar

My favorite method is to use a pneumatic pressure regulator. Feed the turbo boost pressure directly into the lower port of the wastegate and tee that off into the regulator which is then set to feed a regulated pressure to the top port of the wastegate.
This way, with a 1.5 bar spring in the wastegate and the regulator feeding 0.8 bar to the upper port, you'll get 2.3 bar boost.
You can also just use a regular manual boost controller, but then you leave the top port disconnected and plumb the boost controller into the lower port.

The manual boost controller basically bleeds out some of the boost meaning that the turbo might be at 2.3 bar but the wastegate 'sees' less and therfore doesn't open as it thinks the engine is under less boost.

If you connect the boost controller into the lower port will only control of 1.5bar to bottom...
