OM606 Cold Start - dcm - 05-07-2015

Hello,

Looking for some help in wiring the cold start on a om606.

I've fitted a 606 from a late w124 to a w115 and I'm just finishing off some of the wiring etc.

I've wired the cold start to a water temp sensor in the side of the block. Question is, can the cold start advance be adjusted as when it's cold, it seems to be bringing the revs on too much?

Here's a picture of the back of the pump:

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is no "cold start advance" The part pictured is the idle control solenoid. It moves the rack position to increase idle speed. Constant 12+ will burn it out as it usually works on PWM voltage.

Ok thanks for your help.

There is a relatively simple electronic module that plugs into that solenoid.  It monitors RPM (from the crank position sensor, IRRC) and boosts the idle fuel if the RPM drops below the spec.  Dig around the EPC pages for the donor vehicle, then hit the junk-yards for the part.
Much easier than trying to design your own.

I don't have the idle advance module connected but leave the manually switched glow plugs on for a minute or so after a cold start. Doing this makes all the difference to the cold idle. 606 in a 107.

he he that thing is not for cold start boys!!! that thing is a idle fuel increase, it is suposed to work for A/C . usually these cars have a pneumatic idle increase, is in a dif bolt, the uper bolt u can see in the picture. that one can control the idle quality.
the electroactuator u talk about works directly in the idle damper. will help the return to idle, ie idle quality for vehicules with A/C or other tipe of load on it.
and u can hook 12 v it is a strong device, after one hour with 14volts it may burn , but that is abuse.
regards

Above that device you can see a bolt with a lock nut. Unlock the nut and turn the bolt CCW to increase idle until it is stable in all operating conditions. Problem solved. Tongue
