You are looking for an aftermarket pod one?

If you are keeping a stock W202 gearbox you should be able to just buy an electronic tach and then buy a signal converter like this one.

The 605 and 606 have a flywheel speed sensor on the right hand side of the block, but I double that picks up anything from your flywheel using the adapter you have. But to check you could connect an analogue multimeter to the sensor and if the needle goes bananas (the sensor outputs a sinewave signal because it is a hall effect type).

You should be able to get any after market gauge / pod thing that will pick up a hall effect sensor. Converting any other type of sensor IE a counter type requires the signal to be attenuated with a narrow band filter and is must more difficult.
