om605 no MLS headgasket in early model? - EvoPeter - 04-07-2015

Found out on my engine from a w124 from -93 with om605 that it did not have a MLS headgasket. From what i have been reading all over the internet is that all om605 have Multi Layer Steel headgasket from factory.

Or is it so that some previous owner used a om602 headgasket. The engine had only made 280,000km.

hy , nop
N/A engines come with regular headgaskets, and they are still for sale. 602 head gaskets dont fit the 605 but the oposite can be done.
A multy layer stell gasket is 3 times as expensive as the others, trouble is that regular head gaskets were discontinued from MB. thence aftermarket manufacturers may have discontinued the product.
between the turbo and the N/A gasket theres a small diff in the cooling holes.
regards.

Ahh, thanks for clarifying that. This engine was an N/A. People dont mention this difference when they talk about N/A vs. Turbo engine of om605/606.

that is basic, and sometimes basic issues stay as basic, the most enlighted assume the less should know those things.
glasser makes MLS gaskets at afordable prices. threre´s no reason not to use turbo instead of n/a . or the oposite, u just keep in mind that it may leak Wink
