lowering w126 - jandamerc - 12-14-2014

This may have been covered dozens of times already but I have searched and can't find anything. Wanting to drop a w126 about 2 inches. I'm not against cutting the springs but I can't find a definite answer on what to cut off for a certain amount of drop. Anyone got any info?

I think most people do it by trial and error to get it all just right, cutting about half a coil at a time

Not sure how many coils you need to cut. We cut 3 coils which is way more than you want to do with a daily driver. You don't want to do that! But I do know that the 300SD springs destroy the Harbor Freight spring compressors. We cut two springs and ruined 2 of those in the process. The 300SD springs are crazy strong.

I cut 2 coils and it was slammed on the ground. I was so surprised considering how many coils there is. I reordered some spring and cut 1 and a quarter coils in the front. I didnt do anything to the rear and I think it looks great. I have 17 inch tires and they tuck front and rear. I can send pics to someone if they want to host the.

Cut 2 whole and it was on the edge off to much, my car was really high to begin with...

Thanx for the info guys. I rarely make it to this forum. Gotta swap my diff mount and subframe bushings then I'm ordering a spring compressor to fool around with the springs. Judging from the pics in thinking 1.5 to 2 coils should do it. Running r129 16x8s with 225/55 front and 245/50 rear. Would like to go wider on the rear but my wife has locked down the bank account after I went gun shopping so........car funds gotta wait lol. Turbotim. I'll send you a pm for some pics.
