EMP - ForcedInduction - 08-12-2009

This idea just popped into my head. Since the manifolds are off the 240, I should make a port cover plate, attach my air pressure regulator and test what psi the exhaust valves naturally pop open.

The current belief is that 30psi is the maximum safe exhaust manifold pressure.

Why do you need this info?
you will always have an (heavier ?) influence of kinematics that will cause a delay in valve closing.
The highest engine loads come with vanes open (less restriction).

To find out the point where upgraded springs might be needed.

do you believe you already have issues or just for the future?
Wouldn't the issues come from high revs rather than backpressure?

Mainly to make use of already having the manifolds off.

Backpressure doesn't help the situation.
