Sorry for digging out that old thread, just want to know if anybody can proof this hp or is there anybody else producing so much power out of a 605 with a 606 turbocharger?!

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - Tobulus - 09-11-2015

Does the 606 Turbo fit the 605 engine without modifications? Im asking because for german authorities my engine has to look oem

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - Hario' - 09-11-2015

Yes the turbine and manifold flanges will bolt together.
The oil feed and drain are identical fittings, but may need massaging as their position on the CHRA is slightly different.
The compressor inlet and outlet are identical fittings but location may be as above.
The turbine outlets are different, the angle of the V-band flange is about 20 degrees different in orientation between the 2 turbos.
If you look at my build thread pictures you can see how much I had to modify a stock OM605/w202 downpipe to mate to a stock 606.962 I swapped in.

The OM606 K14 turbo is also very very undersized for the engine, not sure how much better it would be on an OM605 engine - the K14 turbo is also used on the 1.9 litre Pug 306 which is about right for that sized turbo.

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - swampmonkey - 09-11-2015

anyone got sidebyside comparissons in size between the om605 and om606 turbos? is the difference noticable when driving?

planing om605dailydrive cars.

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - Tobulus - 09-11-2015

Has anyone ever used the VNT Turbo of a 320CDI on a OM605 or 606 by just using the vacuum-line for the wastegate on the VNT Turbo? I dont want to switch to a mechanical pump because of the comfort benefits of the 722.6 in combination with the electronic pump.

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - orion - 09-14-2015

You need a N75 to control a VNT Charger. Other options aren´t feasible, the course of pressure is unstable. Alfa had have a car with an underpressure controlled VNT charger many years ago and this car make a lot of Problems.

Not sure I agree with that assessment. From what I can tell, the factory ECU regulates boost pressure very finely. It produces just enough boost for the current driving conditions. With the factory turbo this is accomplished with a wastegate. The same algorithm ought to do pretty well when controlling the vanes of a VNT turbo.

RE: 605 with 606 turbo - Hario' - 09-16-2015

I think EGP has to be referenced for good VNT control.

Anyway my friend has a stock 606 K14 turbo for sale quote cheao if anyone wants to try it on a 605, we already converted it to pressure actuator (from a Saab, about 18ish PSI)..
