Another w201 project diesel om613 - zvapressa - 07-26-2014

Hi this going to be my project thread for my w201, The plan is to fit a om613 engine and 722.6 gearbox. It's been fun butchering the wiring, actually just getting it to start has been a pain, not to mention the 722.6 is a tight fit in a w201. I have not done much on the car as finding the spare time to work on it is proving to be difficult, so don't expect there to be many frequent updates, but I will update stuff whenever I can, Bare with me. So far the engine (fits like a glove), gearbox, diff are in, I have done half the wiring,

Still have to do the turbo plumbing, intercooler, exhaust, prop shaft, gear selector, fuel lines, and a few other things I cant quite remember right now.

Sorry about the picture quality this where taken from my phone, I dont have many pictures showing the progress, because once I start working I don't usually stop take pictures.

The wiring is becoming less

The wiring to date, after hours of trimming, cutting and soldering
it doesn't look like much had been done, the earlier pictures show how much wires had to be gone through.

Hi.
Your project is very similar to my. I like it Smile.
I swap 722.6, turbo and other stuff from W210 to W124, but not the engine.
I am very curious how you solve all the problems resulting from this modification.
You will use some standalone controllers or all original?

Good luck! Smile

I'm really impressed you sorted through all that wiring. If I were doing it, I'd probably be dead the first time I hooked up the battery.

Hi, I'm using the original controllers, till I get the car on the road I won't know what problems i'm going to face, at the moment the biggest issues i'm going to face are going to be the aesthetics, I dont know how i'm going fit the dash clocks and other things to make it look as standard as possible, I have looking at your project and very i'm interested in what you doing. nice work

Thanks man, it was alot I didnt know where to start in the first place, but electronics for me anyway is far easier then mechanical work, so I can sit with wires all day, and not get bored.

Impressive! If the viscous fan doesn't fit, the 2.6 petrol 201 comes with a pair of 10" super thin (1") spal fans which we are using. Also the 2.6 slam panel and bottom rad bracket both move the rad forward 2"

By the tacho, I am assuming you used a w210 as a donor vehicle.
If so, how did you manage to mount the diff, as to my understanding, is not a simple bolt on procedure.
Thanks
