OM605 200hp..... how - mario - 06-27-2014

Well I am wondering what the simplest way to tuning a om605 up to get 200hp. It has a mechanical pump and it is my everyday family wagon so I want to try and keep my economy when driven normal....

RE: OM605 200hp..... how - Mark_M - 06-27-2014

It will be an electronically controlled mechanical pump? To get 200 you will have to get it chipped somehow, fit a bigger turbo and get bigger elements installed on the pump. If it really is a fully mechanical pump (must have been changed) then you can skip the chipped part.

Oh and economy and performance don't really go together although if you don't use the extra power economy should not be affected to much.

RE: OM605 200hp..... how - mario - 06-28-2014

Mark was going to use the right foot to control economy as having a reserve is nice for safe overtaking. It is a pure mechanical pump as would the turbo off an om606 be enough or am I looking at bigger or would variable geometry work better.

Then i would fit a Holset he221w with 7cm housing with an adapter to the original turbo manifold and get some bigger elements in the IP.

Thanks edh as is it the exhaust housing you are talking about as is it the inlet and core of the holset I am to use. Do you think 6 mm elements would be enough for the fueling.

You need the whole turbo, but you have to weld an t25 flange to your turbo manifold.
6mm will be enough for 200hp, but i would go for 7.5 or 8mm.
Faster injection makes less smoke and more powerWink

cheers for that as I will look for one of those turbos as are there any other turbos you would recommend there.

Yes, there are many others out there---Like garrett gt2860, holset hx27, and tdo4/tdo5 turbos that will give enough air to 200hpBig Grin

Looking at the td04 turbos as there are a good few subarus broken here. I take it I am looking at a 15 or 16g one as is 11g too small.

mr EDH , i wander where can i lay my hands on a 7, or 7.5 mm element for a M pump, i just hear about them , but seems be a rarity find a set to buy! maybe u can help me to find someone wiling to sell them.
best regards

RE: OM605 200hp..... how - Stevo-trendy - 06-29-2014

Dieselmeken sells the elements on there own or you can send your pump to him & let him fit, test & tune it for you

RE: OM605 200hp..... how - barrote - 06-29-2014

hy ,
heard that as well but , at least one year ago he deny to sell them to me, maybe he has changed mind, do happen to be sure of that? and have his contact?

Still haven't got a chance to do an upgrade as the house has been absorbing my money of late. I am wondering will the turbo and manifold off a 270cdi fit the om605 as would it give me a nice quick spooling turbo

RE: OM605 200hp..... how - baldur - 08-01-2014

According to my research, the electronic OM605 pump should be able to support at least 250hp in unmodified form with the right ECU and engine mods.
I'm working on retrofitting one of these pumps to my OM662, making a custom ECU for the job.
