W201 OM602 box on an OM606 - Fatman - 04-24-2014
Hey guys… First time poster. I've been doing a lot of research about putting an OM606 into my 190D… most if seems pretty simple which is nice!
But… the 2.5 straight diesel manual gearbox is a cause for concern. I plan to run the engine at about 300-350BHP but I'm worried about the gearbox having a hernia and blowing to pieces. Are there any nice bolt on boxes that could be used and handle the torque? Or would I have to use a BMW gearbox to handle it?

Are you going to use the engine stock or with bigger turbo, fuel pump etc...

Bigger turbo, intercooler and fuel pump probably.

Try to find a six speed 220-270 cdi box they are very strong.Rated 370Nm but it can handle at least 500Nm

A W203 220-270 Cdi you mean? Sounds good. Easy to source locally too

when i start building my w201 with a Om606, also i am thinking to use a six speeds gearbox with single mass clutch

Yes six speed from W203 or W210 facelift i think the number is 716.654 or something
