om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-17-2014

I have been surfing for deals on om606 and so far no luck. so today i got on car-part.com

I put in multiple qoutes and 6 miles away at a recycler there is a e300 1998 motor. its in a warehouse so im waiting on the qoute to come back. i hope these motors are fully dressed for the starting price of $1500Smile to $3000Sad

When do you say no to the mileage on these motors? im looking to push 500whp

can i excite the electric IP some how to see that it runs when i get it home?

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-18-2014

First reply form one of the 4 lots I contacted. Basically a long block with IP for 1800 +250 core. That's crazy. I'd at least like a starter.

RE: om606 parts collecting - CRD4x4 - 03-18-2014

I just posted one in the Craigslist Alert Thread here on the 11th. Asking $2000 fully dressed. Its gone now.
I'd hope most STD members would do the same. Just be patient and have a couple G's ready to go - we'll find you one! Cool

Is that $1500-$3000 dollars for a completely stock motor ? Complete with wirring & starter , alternator etc ??

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-18-2014

No just a long block. Stupid expensive.

Yes, sort of, the control of the IP is a PWM signal. Which can easily be simulated, but just don't bridge 12v to it or anything. A simple but proper controller must be made.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwIQ1UIuh6k

After the filming of this video he discovered that his DC voltage and current supply source, and old computer power supply, was weakening out when that rail of the power supply couldn't supply the current needed by the PWM controller. Once he got proper current to his PWM controller he made all was well, and he could start and run the engine smoothly adjusting up and down to any desired RPM.

You could always just turn it over and listen to it.

Here i thought you where a man of few words. after qouting your post which showed your hidden text in the editor. crazy anyways it would be nice to play with the motor until i get the super pump.

RE: om606 parts collecting - erling66 - 03-19-2014

You can just take off the back part of the pump and run it with your hand controlling the rack.

AH! I didnt know this

RE: om606 parts collecting - Stevo-trendy - 03-19-2014

Is that the price 606 engines are going for over in the states ? You can buy a whole w210 e300 td for around £300 over in the uk ! Did you guys ever get the om605 engines ? Anyone know how much it is to ship a engine across via fed ex ?

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-19-2014

no 605 here Sad a 606 Turbo car here is $4500-$9000

RE: om606 parts collecting - Tito - 03-19-2014

Holy shit! I can get a donor om606 here for 1000~1200 euro. I bought a complete good engine for 350 euro! That includes the starter, turbo and so on. Even the ac compressor came with it.

RE: om606 parts collecting - bhowell_10 - 03-19-2014

we should all hope that the CDIs keep coming here in large quantities. The Sprinters are helping in that regard. The airplane people have made standalone ECUs, and people have made Megasquirt programming.

We never got any OM604s or OM605s here. The people who don't know how to extract glow plugs are burning thru the supply of used engines and cylinder heads.

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-19-2014

Ship a crate of om60x variations please hell I'll pay $3000 if I get a manual trans

Along with the Oliver group buy on the tune we should get our Diesel brothers over the pond to send us longblocks & 6-speeds with shifters and clutch petals!

Considering the price difference and lack of availability here we could save money and they would still have a huge profit margin.

Someone in a central location like St. Louis set up a staging area for the shipment containers. Lets setup up an escrow account, and a parts list. The lack of availability here really is an issue. We have people tuning and driving 616 motors because it gets better mileage than the latest petrol stuff we have to choose from here.

RE: om606 parts collecting - Stevo-trendy - 03-19-2014

Have you guys got a zip code i could use to work out what it would cost to send one 606 engine complete with all ancillaries ? Just wondering what it would cost via fed ex , would there be a good demand for 605,606's ? & manual boxes etc ?

RE: om606 parts collecting - mbz123 - 03-19-2014

Try 64068. Not saynt loowee, but close. And tapping space for staging is a possibility.

MBZ123

RE: om606 parts collecting - hooblah - 03-19-2014

I'd be glad to help you guys out. Might be worth getting a big list of all the bits you want and then it can all go in one container to cut down on shipping?

For $3000 i'll get the bloody thing shipped to your door on a pallet!

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-19-2014

1511 W Whitner St, Anderson, SC 29624

I have a business address so freight should be cheaper.

Ill drive to the charelston port to unload the container if need be.
176 Concord St, Charleston, SC 29401

never done this but ill learn it if it means having stacks of om60x variants to twin charge and install in everything from trucks to cars, boats, and offroad toys

RE: om606 parts collecting - swampmonkey - 03-20-2014

Price for 1m3 crate (enough for atleast engine ) Would cost. Me approx 620usd to send to california, Los Angeles/San fransisco i think was the area i checked... That including the cost for customs+harbor (not the possible custom you would have to pay thou...

Not much more to ship gearbox along with engine....
6speeds cost from 1200usd to 1800usd over here.
606s turbo the same...

RE: om606 parts collecting - CRD4x4 - 03-20-2014

Here's the 2nd turbo 606 engine I've found in my area in a week:

http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pts/4379358742.html

Both are/were $2,000 obo but this one claims >100k miles.

Its not too far to drive (SC -> MD)

RE: om606 parts collecting - bhowell_10 - 03-20-2014

OM606 and 6-speed manual gearbox = American's salivate at the mouth, why does MB keep denying us?

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-21-2014

Nice find crd4x4. I suppose the NA intake alternator, power steering pump and starter can be had from a NA motor?

RE: om606 parts collecting - hooblah - 03-21-2014

I can source om606's and 6 speed gearboxes, even the single mass flywheel and clutch kit.
The problem may come with finding specific gearbox codes but if you do have something specific in mind then let me know and ill see what I can do.
All that remains is to figure out the shipping. You can do that from your end if you like or I can do it for you.
PM me for enquiries Smile

RE: om606 parts collecting - Gearbound - 03-31-2014

turns out the local wrecker is under new ownership and they dont know if they have the motor now.

RE: om606 parts collecting - CRD4x4 - 03-31-2014

Did you contact this seller? I think its still for sale.

RE: om606 parts collecting - Hario' - 04-01-2014

Sheesh I cant sell my RUNNING with tax & test W210 E300td (606) for £900 here in the UK..

Looking at DHL pallet deliveries, I can ship a 300kg (600lb) pallet to the USA for £1000, with purchase of OM606 W210, engine & transmission removal, then disposal of vehicle shell, it can be done for $2500ish.

That would be a 722.6 auto, engine, box, rad, IC, oil cooler, all pipework, all ancillaries, battery, and a pile of pipes, wiring loom, anything else specifically requested etc.

Regards, H

RE: om606 parts collecting - raysorenson - 04-01-2014

Don't flood the market just yet Hario'. I have to sell my W210 E300tD for about £2400 ;-p

I got my 6spd transmission out of c230 kompressor for $900USD localy off car-part.com with drive shaft shifter and miscellaneous bolts and hard ware. and a om606.962 turbo for $1250 cash off another forum member

Im still looking and locally. The motor CRD4x4 posted is a costly drive. it barely offsets itself from one on car-part.com looking for a deal like Willbhere4u got.

RE: om606 parts collecting - CRD4x4 - 04-03-2014

There's another around me for $3,000. I didn't mention it before because there's one for a grand cheaper.
I bought a 606 several months ago that was advertised for $2,000.
That is NOT what I paid! People have a hard time saying no to a stack of cash even if its far less than they'd want.
I had to survive the aliens at District 9 to get mine. What's it - a 6hr drive?
