Torsen diff - mercemann - 11-20-2013

Hi. I just bought two Torsen AMG diffs for 500se to install in my w123. Has any of you driven a car with a diff like that? How easy will one wheel spin? Would it drift easy?

Mattis

thats sweet!
where did you find that? and will it fitt inside the housings? custom build?

RE: Torsen diff - mercemann - 11-25-2013

It is an original Diesen Torsen diff that AMG used to mount on the cars that they modified. So it should fit inside all W126 V8 housings.

Where can i find one and what ratio will it result in? Big Grin

RE: Torsen diff - mxfrank - 11-25-2013

Ratio shouldn't change. The Torsen replaces the ring carrier and sun/planet gears, it uses the same ring and pinion as a regular diff.

You can buy these new from Quaife.

The surface that the ring gear bolts to on the carrier is spaced differently on the low ratios (2.65, etc) than the regular gasser ratios. Since they're specifying a 190e 2.6, it would be wise to assume that it's for the shorter gasser-friendly ratios.
