Vacuumpump - HaavardPYA - 10-03-2013

What is the little hose on the vacuum pump for? Cant remember what it was when i took out the engine..

RE: Vacuumpump - Tito - 10-03-2013

shutoff actuator, locking the doors, gearbox, light beam adjuster, Basically everything that uses vacuum except the brake booster i thought?

RE: Vacuumpump - HaavardPYA - 10-04-2013

Where does it conect to the vacuumsystem? Witch hose?

RE: Vacuumpump - willbhere4u - 10-04-2013

Usually its directly to the brake booster from the vacuum pump. Then there are branches for lines off that to other systems

RE: Vacuumpump - winmutt - 10-09-2013

The little one on the 60x vac pump is for the trans EPA stuff here in the states. Not sure in Europe.

RE: Vacuumpump - Tito - 10-09-2013

Now I'm unsure... I swear I thought the little line provided vacuum for everything except the brake booster.

Btw can someone tell new how to hook up the vacuum lines to the tranny? And was does the box on the governor exactly do?

RE: Vacuumpump - HaavardPYA - 10-09-2013

Aha! But if it is for the tranny i dont need it.. Since i`ve mounted a manual gearbox..
Plug it or just leave it open?

RE: Vacuumpump - Tito - 10-10-2013

Plug it! If you leave it open you'll lose vacuum

RE: Vacuumpump - Druk - 10-10-2013

But if you simply plug it you will lose the IP shut-off, door locks, headlight levelling etc that operate by vacuum with the shut-off being the most vital. There has to be a loose line somewhere that plugs into the pump spigot. As an aside, and although it may only apply to a 606 motor, when I inadventantly left a line open the crankcase heavily overpressurised. The pump exhausts it's vacuum directly into the crankcase. This event doesn't normally happen because once vacuum is drawn the pump effectively freewheels, but if a line is left off it continues endlessly pumping.
Took me a while to figure the heavy engine breathing was something other than a piston down.
The box on the governor provides modulated vacuum to the gearbox to soften the gearchange.

Aha, then i need to see if theres any loose ends i have hidden under something trough the building of the car..
