Garrett GTX series?? - pmj4147 - 09-03-2013

Hi i'm park in South korea

mine is a OM662(602 2.9litre) with bosch original 6mm

and planning about 7.5mm pump.

Problem is................ TURBOCHARGER

i currently have TD06-25G and it's journal bearing

But this turbo has terribly slow spool

so i'm thinking about GTX2876...

how it would be???

There's a few guys using the GT2860rs on Nissan Patrols, which, IIRC, has a 4.0l. I know this turbo is a little smaller but the Patrol guys seem to like it.

I think the common reservation for using ball bearing turbos on diesels is that the turbo turns much higher rpm at cruise than gas burners. Journal bearings are known for better longevity at sustained high rpms. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to use a ball bearing turbo on my daily driver.

*edit* Garrett's site says this turbo is "Interchangeable with GT2860RS".
