blue smoke - stripy - 08-24-2013

ive turbo converted my 124 300td 24v engine.
ive had a couple of test runns.
but now i get a lot of blue smoke from the engine.
it comes smoke at low idle and when i rew it.
its a little oil in the air, the pressure side, but it's wery little. exhaust side of the turbo is clean for oil.
no diesel or water in the oil.

annyone that can help me?

ok do you have blow by? remove the dipstick is it smoking from there if yes piston rings. if no how is your oil return line from the turbo how big and do it run back as strait as possible above oil level in the sump ?
what turbo did you use ball bearing or not? ball bearing don't like high pressure and high flow off oil.

that all I can think of now but give some more info take pictures of the whole setup so we can see what you did there are many very skilled people here but without more info we are blind.

Hansen.

turbo and exhaust manifold are from a w210. kkk turbo. dont know if it's a ball bearing or not! how can i see that?
no smoke from the dipstick. oil return runs in a straight line, 10mm pipes.
going to test the compression and the nozzles now.

il put some pictures here ofterwards.

If you oil drain from the turbo is below the oil level it can build up to much pressure and leak oil past the seals in to the exhaust or intake manifold

RE: blue smoke - Druk - 08-25-2013

My engine...606.962 with 910 pump and 6mm elements. Initially timed at 15deg ATDC it blue smoked at idle and had slight mis-fire. Advanced now to 12deg ATDC and no smoke but rapidly gets hotter under full load, however engine sounds good and pulls well.

So your blue smoke may be pump timing. My question is:- does being too far advanced cause possible overheating?

10mm oil return?? sounds very small

RE: blue smoke - stripy - 08-25-2013

10mm oil return is the same as the output of the turbo. so i thought it wouldnt be a problem. the pipe is mounted just above the oil sump on the block. if i run it without the turbo i guess i would find out if there were problems with the turbo or the engine?

druk: did it smoke more when you rew it? the water have been arond 80-90 degrees. no misfire but runs uneven at low idle.

going to get kompression tools, and nozzle tester tomorow.

RE: blue smoke - stripy - 08-29-2013

so my head gasket is blown and my valves wont close. so il have to do i little overhaul on the engine!
annyone know how i can get a little less compression in the engine? have read it's suposed to be 22kg comp.
i know a thicker head gasket would help a little.
someone know of annythink else?
