6.2 Lt.

What are you thoughts. I've driven them and they are slow. I'm sure geared bad. It been a few years though.

Do they take a turbo well?

What do they rev to?

Could be fun.

Yeah I've read around too this morning. Saddens me that they suck. I always liked that body style though.

The drivetrain you want is a '93 turbo 7.3L international harvester. Find it in ford pickups, buses, and other trucks.

The 7.3 is a beast. Feels like unlimited torque. Low redline though, so you'd have to watch the gearing.

I always thought the 7.3's were giant turds. Our pretty much stock 1st gen Cummins non intercooled farm truck, would keep up with my buddies 7.3 with banks exhuast housing, banks chip, banks intercooler etc...

Really? A friend has an '02 F350 dually tow rig with the 7.3 and injectors/intercooler/chip/compressor housing/straight 4" exhaust, that truck can pull anything

I guess I am just partial to Cummins, or duramax. Or anything not ford Big Grin
But i really dont like the HEUI system on them either.

RE: army blazers - larsalan - 07-09-2013

Well, sir, IH is not ford directly. Ford for sure f#(k3d up when they started to give a whirl at manufacturing their own motors. But as a company ford are less of cocksuckers than dodge/chrysler and gm/chevrolet. And it is the idi setup that I have a taste for Wink

I also really don't like that heui system. So, instead of 1 pump lets make each injector its own pump, sheer genius. My dad has a 2000 6.0L ford. He got 8 new injectors installed for the low low price of $850.hahaha

RE: army blazers - lgreeley83 - 07-09-2013

I always hear the 12 valve Cummins is boss. Although I don't know.

Hey man, don't knock the Ford/Mazda 2.0/2.3/2.5 L gasser. That thing is the 616 of the gasoline world.

But yeah, for a big swap a 12V Cummins is going to be the cheapest and easiest.

It is a boss. They put injection pumps that are way oversized on them, so to make more power the only thing needed is more Air.

Like 700hp with a stock pump (12mm), and the engine can stand turning 4k on stock bottom end? that's impressive in my eyes

My dads 100% stock 03 5.9 AT Cummins common rail. Will blow the doors off any of the tuned & chiped Fords or Chevy's

I love Cummins and Dodges as much as anyone, but I would go as far to say that.
Fords 6.4L that they put in the 08-10 model (I think), with a tuner was wicked fast. I've seen dyno graphs of them making 600hp to the rear wheels with only a tuner and exhaust.
And the duramaxs with efi live will blow the doors off a stock 5.9 commonrail anyday.
Convince your dad to put a tuner on it, he will be super impressed with the results! My friend just put a cheapo Diablo Predator on his 03 5.9, and he loves it. Gets better fuel mileage and man will it run!
