om602 + 4 speed auto & 250 hp ? - TLLM - 06-24-2013
Hi guys.
I have a low milage 602 turbo engine + a 4 speed auto box from 1990, in my garage. I planned on putting it all in my 190d.
Then i would do a turbo upgrade + intercooler + larger elements.
I really like automatic transmission, and wouldent really be without it. But is it possible to push say, 200 - 250 hp through the 4 speed auto box, whithout ripping it apart?

Anybody care to answer this? I'm in the same boat, contemplating larger elements for an om602 and similar HP in a '93 w124...will the automatic handle it?

I think it would handed it for a while. Mine lasted the summer with 7.5 elements and 40 lbs of boost. it slipped bad though in 2,3 and 4...... Im sure i was well north of 250hp

With a 722.3 from a 603 engine and turned up line pressure it might just hold. Stock 722.4 behind the 602 is crap though essentially a much weaker version of the 722.3, i've heard of those breaking with only 200 HP !!
