Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - Duncansport - 04-21-2013

So ive read as much as i can on this and still a bit fuzzy. Sprinter single mass conversion should work correct???

EPC lists two flywheel alone for this engine and trans combo so any input is much appreciated!

Sounds about right, the .432 has the shorter shaft that the conversion flywheel is designed for.

Well scrap that its a 717.430..... 300e assembly. Guess I need a oe standard single mass flywheel..

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - Duncansport - 04-22-2013

So trying to find a 300E flywheel is nearly impossible. M-B for 468 new. Lots of 190E 16V ones for next to nothing. Seems the best route. Any input on this people? I will be picking this stuff up in two to three weeks

Not so sure. My 717.450 came from a 320e and it's dual mass. I have a gearbox in the garage from a single mass 230e. Wait till tomorrow Scottish time and I'll measure the protrusion of the input past the bellhousing and post on here. The single mass shaft is approx 1/2" longer than the DM.

Thanks a bunch!
Seems like the 190 16V is a direct bolt on and sourcing a clutch is fairly easy compared to the 300E set up...

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - raysorenson - 04-23-2013

I've got a stock 16v clutch and it holds my 603t. If I can get a good pressure plate for it, I'll stick with the 16v clutch once I begin modding for power. Check this thread:

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - Druk - 04-23-2013

Non-dualmass input shaft sticks out past the front face of the bellhousing by...

24.58mm or 0.96inches.

Probably about 3/4" more than a dualmass shaft so easily identified.

Hate to keep bringing this topic up..But...

The gentleman selling the trans and related parts also has a 190E 16V flywheel and pressure plate for sale. It seems to me this would work fine but not having the stuff in front of me or having a flywheel / flex plate from the current OM602 to match up im not so sure. Im mostly concerned about the ring gear size and the mounting to the crankshaft. I think their both eight holes and i can only assume that the spacing is the same. Alsoi think the OM602 flex plate has the timing tabs for the tach pick up which could pose an issue.
Again thanks for any input!

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - aaa - 05-16-2013

You should not have a problem, it'll bolt on fine. The tach pickup is based off the ring gear teeth not on tabs.

^^This...everything I've read indicates that the starter ring gear is the same as well as crankshaft mounting...I'm sure Rolf can chime in here as he's already done it on a 603...

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - SixSpeed - 08-04-2019

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but maybe you guys can help me? I have a 1990 190E 2.6 5-Speed with a bad flywheel (Dual Mass, 717.432 transmission). Is there some sort of sprinter flywheel that can be used to run a single mass? I would MUCH prefer a single mass flywheel, and I can't even find a replacement DM unit.

RE: Flywheel 717.432 and OM602 - madmog - 08-05-2019

I have pretty much the same question as SixSpeed - I have a M103 2.6 engine and a 5 speed gearbox from a W202 250DT. Does anyone know if the sprinter conversion would work in this scenario? I have no need of the triggerwheel function as I'll get that off the old distributor drive.
