w123 om602, what pumpelements - swampmonkey - 03-22-2013

Hey there!

got a w123 with om602turbo engine, fivespeed of modell 717430 and stock clutch, so no strong gearbox that will withstand loads of torque, and also planing to keep stock turbo.

the plan is to use it as a daily driver, and the pump is today so badly tuned due to previous owner, no idle when cold, and it sticks in high rpms when there is nothing that brings it back down, to use the engine to slow down the speed is just to forget, kinda anoying.

i want a tad more power than the stock 125 without the need to change turbo and other, how much can i get out of the engine as it is? would be very happy with about 180-190hp.
turbo now gives 1.6bar of pressure at the inlet, it has an intercooler.

talked to Göran at Dieselmeken about him moving the 6mm elements i got in a om606pump to the om602 pump, his price was 7000sek (1080dollars)

a bit to high price for me to just move from 5.5 to 6mm elements, when its about the same price people pay to get 7-8mm elements in their pumps.

my question, could i get 7.5 or 7mm elements in the pump, dial it down, and make it work with the engine? i dont want excessive amount of black smoke, regular smooth idle and so on, whats my best option?

stock tranny, clutch, turbo

means under 7mm

5.5, 6, 6.5 could be....

i'm using 6mm but i have intermittent clutch slip issue.

I would get 7mm or 7.5mm. They can be dialed down easily, probably with an adjustable external rack stop.

This guy swapped my 5.5mm elements out of my 606 n/a pump with the ones from my 606 turbo pump.

He's one of the main Bosch pump agents here and does pumps for the tractor pulling guys in ireland.

I was charged 200 euro.

yeah, my plan is to go for the 7.5 or 7mm element, and dial it down, have other engines that might get a bigger turbo and better tranny in the future,
no point in paying loads of money for something that is mediocre, il get bigger elements and have the pumped turned down instead.

better for the future, same for today.
just got to find a good place to do it.

mynä, dieselmeken or someother place here in sweden, thanks guys!

I'm about to buy an OM602 engine for my w201 and I live in Canada. What do you suggest doing to upgrade the pump? I have a relatively good budget, any tips?

If I'm not mistaken the higher elements you have from stock parts is 6mm from a om606 pump, otherwise there is pretty much only dieselmeken that modifies elements. I tried to buy elements somewhere on the web amd didn't found some:/

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - Kenny1813 - 03-25-2015

Ohh sorry I didn't read correctly what you wrote. You have access to 7mm element for cheaper than dieselmeken? That sounds intresting:p

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - barrote - 03-25-2015

well kind of everybody has access to 7mm elements , they are sold by bosch, Big Grin, they weren´t made for MB engines but they do work out.

Hello.

Can you extend this information?

A part number would be fine and would help many people, I guess.

Thank you very much and greetings.

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - Kenny1813 - 03-28-2015

After putting new elements does the pump need further ajustement? I would be suprised if its plug & play :p

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - Petar - 03-28-2015

No, your pump MUST be recalibrated on a bench, otherwise you will never get cylinder fueling balanced.

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - Booster - 03-28-2015

I never said you didn't have to, but someone asked where to buy the Bosch elements and I showed one place.

There are a few people around who will fit and balance them.

If you want the complete Proven package then go to one of the big boys manya - ppd - dieselmeken etc

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - CMP - 03-28-2015

Thanks Booster.

Are these the elements that you call old ford transit type?

They are cheap, can you tell me what is the handicap?

What are the problems at idle?

Sorry if the questions bother, I read a lot in the forum and I'm not clear.

Greetings and thanks.

RE: w123 om602, what pumpelements - barrote - 04-01-2015

dieselkontour elements worth shit matter of speaking Smile we cal it china stuff,
ford transit are not the ones sold by dieselkontour, ford transit are made by bosch. and since there are many aplications of the bosch M series pump, in generators tractors etc, just ask a bosch dealer for them.
theorethically , any kind of M type elements will be able to work, be sinchronizable and LAST, something that dieselkontour can´t offer.

Thanks for the explanation, barrote.

It`s a pleasure to learn with you.

Greetings!
