M pump question... - simonm16p6 - 03-12-2013

Hi, I've recently bought an OM605td engine for my Land Rover, and also found an OM602n/a type mechanical pump for it. After many evenings and hours brousing through this forum, I think I've got most aspects of it figured out, and got the engine running on the garage floor.

I understand that the 602 pump creates less power than the 605 electronic pump so plan on having the 6mm elements swapped over, and most likely fit an external ALDA unit. I also want to tweak it up a bit depending on how it performs once installed, and have quickly read through the IP Full Load Adjustment Procedure thread. I need to read through it a few more times to help me get round the workings of the pump and how to tweak it, but now having something that works infront of me should help me understand better.

What I want to know now as I can't find anything on them is what the two parts on the top of the governer are, one next to the vacuum shut-off with the locknut, and the other above the rear cover plate?

After taking those photos I have removed the throttle to transmission thing since I eventually found out roughly what it is and I have no need for it!

Thanks in advance Smile

There's the ADA (similar to the ALDA) and a pneumatic idle governor.

Thanks for that, is the pneamatic idle governer needed, or can I simply ignore it? I think I will be researching the ADA now, could it be replaced with a proper ALDA, or could it be adapted to work with boost to reduce off-boost smoke?

The pneumatic idle governor can be ignored. applying vacuum to it make it idle 150 +/- rpm more.

Thanks, another part to ignore Cool

Just research into aftermarket / non standard ALDAs and fabricate your own, I may have gone abit OTT but you get the idea..

Over 200 pumps made with this outside ALDA and it seems to work OK according to my customers. In some installations its a bit to big so we have to customize it even moore.
Price is 100 euro incl screws, washers etc

I really want one of these, I have a spare mechanical pump for the 5 cylinder sitting in a box ready, just waiting to get the car on the road and have some spare cash to throw at it Wink

Hario, bang for buck I've got my head set on the Dieselmeken external ALDA, it looks like it'll fit with plenty of clearance for my supercharger!

hello guy´s
I wonder how you install external ALDA´s , maybe someone be gently enough to teach me?
I happy owner of a 605N/A conversion to turbo , and a modified IP wich is 6mm element and able to deliver 90cc max fuel till 5kRPM, and able to deliver 50cc and 40cc, depending on the engine need. no smoke coming from my exaust pipe. good performance at tecnichal inspection.
my pump is fitted with a ADA , pneumatic idle increase and ELR.
ADA is set to deliver 50cc max fuel when receiving vacum, have a swich over valve operated by egr system wich changes ADA to boost when pedal is flored, achieving at this point 90cc.
ELR decrease fuel to 70cc with boost at ADA, with vacum to 40cc.
the tuning was done at a bench test.
performs very well.
all this cause my pump has no ALDA , and can´t understand how you fit ouside ALDA`s
regards.
