722.6 speed trigger wheel - TheDon - 03-09-2013 Hmmmmmm. The diameter is 22mm Speed sensor from a 400E. The diameter of the O-ring is 23mm and it would mount perfectly in the above hole if it were to be bored out and the post drilled and tapped for a bolt. Now the question is what is behind the metal of the case. It could be the parking pawl RE: 722.6 speed trigger wheel - raysorenson - 03-10-2013 If that is a (super burly) trigger wheel rather than a gear for the parking pawl then there should be a bore in the case for an output shaft speed sensor. Did the trans come with an OSS? I've never run into a modern electronic trans that didn't come with an OSS. Perhaps a couple of the valve body connector pins are dedicated to OSS. RE: 722.6 speed trigger wheel - whipplem104 - 03-10-2013 The standard 722.6 does not come with a output speed sensor. The hole that you are looking at is for that but it was only used on the G wagen and early sprinters etc. that did not have wheel speed sensors. It was left over for some reason on some of the later versions of those cars. It requires a new park gear. It is a little over 100 and has a trigger wheel on it. There are also some seals and the plastic cup like the 722.3 that you took this from. Of course to get it not to leak is harder that installing the sensor and park gear. You would need to take it to a machine shop to be done properly. I am making a trigger wheel that will bolt on the flange with the flex disc bolts. I have a prototype in my one car. I need really good resolution for the PCS tcu now that we have gear recognition detecting ratios. I have simply a magnetic sensor mounted on my other car reading the flange and bolts. It just has a step in the frequency because of the different gap in the bolts and flange. So it confuses the tcu at low speeds. I am going to change it soon. I'm going to have to make an external bracket and put 4 triggers on the drive shaft.
