I have used them numerous times for both stock and custom driveshaft modifications. They have had no problems modifying and balancing MB two part driveshafts for me.
The jobs Ive had them do has gone from a simple balance, to a relengthening of the forward shaft, new center U-joint, overall balance, and they hit the driveshaft with a coat of spraypaint before they ship it it seems no matter the job.

Prices have been very reasonable. Mail service has been excellent.

I have used:

South bay Driveline
1654 Almaden Rd.
San Jose, Ca. 96125

408-995-6000

www.sb-driveline.us

Had them shorten a 240 DL when doing the 4-spd swap and had the U-joint replaced.

later on I had them do the 240D U-joint, center Support Bearing and they also replaced the Bushings in the ends.
Think the price was $300, so should be good for another 300K miles.

They machine out the old MB joint and replace it with a greaseable one.

i also had a good experience with south bay driveline though my bill was a little more than charlie's, about $500.

South Bay Driveline did a custom propeller shaft for me and I couldn't be happier. Highly recommended. Especially if you are on the west coast.
