the headlamps have a blackened lower half to reduce the extreme brightness of the Xenon HIDs behind them - but they are the sexyest non Euro lamps I've ever seen Wink.... also my fogs are 6000K Xenon instead of the yellow, but I actually think it looks more euro, especially with my plate!

the 'sex toy' was in the glove box of one of my manual trans parts car and the stock shifter was gross looking, so Ill admit - I added that cause I thought it looked better than what it was replacing.

I do have better pics of the seats, they are from a 1986 16V that was stripped and autoXed

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - jagoras - 02-26-2010

what kind of air filter is that?

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - ForcedInduction - 02-27-2010

Looks like a small K&N clone, not a good option.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - Jtn190D - 02-27-2010

What is a good option?

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - ForcedInduction - 02-27-2010

Nothing really. The stock intake is already free flowing, a cold air intake and has enough airflow capacity to supply the engine with everything it can use.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - jagoras - 03-01-2010

i was thinking of replacing my filter with a k&n, not that one, but the one that looks like the oem.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - ForcedInduction - 03-02-2010

Just as bad. There is no benefit.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - Jtn190D - 04-14-2010

What muffler do you have on there?

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - mike-81-240d - 08-16-2010

What kind of difference does the black film make on the glare? I need HID's, but too poor to retrofit bixenon's...

I have a RACtive racing dual exit muffler on it

the black film on the nAM lights is a must, it kills the high-beam like glare. the Euros I have on the car now use an H4 bulb, and there is no need for film on the lamps. the cutoff is clean.

Bixenons are cheap, but the H6s never work well. I had Bixenons in the nAM lights, needed the film.

Nice car! I also have a 190D Turbo and think it's my favorite car ever. I even like it more than the Jetta TDIs.

Mine is totally stock and complete with basically everything working like new, and all the factory tools, paperwork, first aid kit, Becker stereo, etc. so I'm kinda torn between keeping it stock and adding an intercooler, boost/fuel, and a 5 speed swap.

Where did you get the nice looking headlight surrounds and HID kit? Even if I keep my car otherwise stock I need to upgrade the headlights- the stock ones are no longer bright enough for safe night driving.

gotta love the Dturbos Smile youre part of a very exclusive club :p

definitely mod it, but keep it all MB if you can.

my car used to have standard USM nAM headlight surrounds, now its got BOSCH euro lamps, which I ordered from Germany

the HID kits, I order from a local friend of mine who has connections overseas. this car can light up the night sky. Smile

190 is too small for me, makes me claustrophobic. I like the avant gard grill, where did you get? The handle on my jack fell this weekend and put a couple more notches in my grill Sad

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - 2.5-10 - 01-24-2011

I dont think theyre made anymore. i got it off of a parts car i bought, then painted the insert black. maybe german ebay?

as far as the claustrophobia -- to each, their own. I love the cozy driver oriented feel. especially with the cossie seats

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - casioqv - 01-24-2011

(01-24-2011, 10:10 AM)2.5-10 as far as the claustrophobia -- to each, their own.

I feel that a bit in my 190Dt. I'm 6'2 and my hair touches the headliner, and my shoulder touches the B-pillar in normal driving.

Although I got some advice from other W201 owners on how to adjust the seat properly, and I can now wear a helmet for Auto-X events without leaning my head on my shoulder, although it requires having the seat slid too far-forward, and reclined back really far.

Quite a contrast from the "Opera House" feel of sitting in a W123.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - winmutt - 01-24-2011

I am 6-2 as well. I could never stand a car where my hair touches the headliner. Would drive me up the wall. The very first time I got in a w123 as an adult I felt like I was the president. So much headroom. I have found the w124 manages to preserve this as well.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - Biohazard - 01-24-2011

^^^ Haha! I'm 5'8" and feel like a midget in my W126 if my seat is too far down! I'm really looking forward to getting my W123 done, I don't like big cars that much. I only got my W126 because it had a fresh engine. Havent had a chance to sit in either of your guys cars, may have to go car-lot hopping and find out. Big Grin

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - 2.5-10 - 01-24-2011

well, if I had to compare my 190D to my 560SEL or my W114 550E, yeah -- the room is far from ample.

the recaro cossy seats with the MANUAL brackets sit a bit lower, and the space never really leaves me wanting. that being said I'm only 6' tall..

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - Captain America - 01-24-2011

I am also 6'2" and I can sit in my W123 with a 4" mohawk and not touch the headliner.... Tongue

Yes I wouldn't mind manual seats for the lowered sitting. Recaros would be VERY nice.

RE: '87 W201 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel - 2.5-10 - 01-25-2011

plus, it saves 22lbs Smile

lateral support is very nice. especially since ive gotten the D to handle better than my E30.
