603 tach signal - George3soccer - 08-22-2012

Hey guyws, have a few other questions egarding the 603 tach signals.

Ill give a basic of what I am working with.

a w201 85 gass chassis, with a 86 603.

For you guys who were able to make the original tach work with the 603 motor how did you guys go about with this.

I have done some more research, and the 190D did not use a tach amp, it was a direct two wire pin from the crank sensor.

Is there anyone that can shed some light onto this topic.

RE: 603 tach signal - aaa - 08-22-2012

The 603 used the flywheel tooth sensor, which sends 144 pulses per rev, many more than the gasser tach uses. The gasser tach uses two pulses per rev.

Maybe this'll help:

Ok I see, I went ahead and tried jumping the sensor wires to the tach an got nothing.

So let's say I get a 190d tach would that work or would I be needing some other conversion to get the signal to work correctly possibly a amp.
