RE: 1987 300D - aaa - 07-23-2012

This is pricey even by US standards.

A w124 300D is generally a very good car at a (very) good price.

This one though seems to be quite expensive for the US market, which kinda takes it beyond the point.

well this is the best deal i can find in a relatively close area how much should i offer him? what should i look out for?

RE: 1987 300D - aaa - 07-23-2012

Well that all depends on the condition.

Here's a good one for $3000:

You should check the head number, and look out head gasket/head issues. Check for rust, look for knickknacks that don't work.

I'd say in my opinion I'd like to be on the road with that baby for 3k
like take 3k subtract title swap/licence fees, 6 months for your insurance premium then that is the jump of point.
so what maybe like 2600? Dude may not like to hear that, who knows. I guess you gotta look at what it's really worth to you. The problem with there being so few, like you say, is that then the seller kinda has you by the balls.
and from that single photo that car does look cherry Wink

You mean #14 and good numbers for the head are #17,18,20, and 22
