OM617 pump repair - RedLance - 05-22-2012

Ok...I screwed up.

I tried running a blend of used vegetable oil and #2 diesel fuel, and ended up gumming up my injectors and apparently the injector pump.

It's a 1985 300SD

My best guess is that the plungers in the IP are stuck. How do I remove them so I can try and un-stuck them?

Do i need special tools to put it back together correctly?

Or just make damn sure the same plungers go back in the same holes, and line everything up the way it was? Sounds to easy.

I already took care of the injectors. Got 4 of the 5 unstuck, and found out I had 3 turbo injectors and 2 non turbo...so I got a couple used turbo ones, and put them all together to make 5 good turbo ones.

Thanks for any help.

Brian

Might as well get a used pump. No way are you getting inside without needing to put it on a bench (to do it properly).

If you are patient you can flush/soak it with acetone or something:
