Pictures of the pepto pink?

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 05-02-2012

If you really want to see what color it was I can find a spot with the color still. I didn't take pictures of it intentionally because my eyes would burn. Big Grin Trust me it was pepto-pink. So desperate to get rid of it I did the color place .98 cent each rattle can job haha. The original color was that yellow-tanish color.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Simpler=Better - 05-02-2012

I have a "like new" vac hard line make me an offer.
I also have a "like new"VDO temp gauge, make me an offer :p

For the EGT you can get square digital readouts (like they use in labs) for around $75

You might want to paint the roof white, you're going to cook in a black car in AZ

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 05-02-2012

For the Gauges, I'm going to put them in the single din and setup an iphone radio. So no digital, is that vdo a 52mm? Everything fitting without looking like extra crap is kinda important to me. The main vac hose is about $43 new want to throw it too me for $30 Big Grin

Black or nothing, this is a deathcab. Big Grin

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Simpler=Better - 05-02-2012

Yeah it's a 52mm, if I can find my center vent conversion stuff I'd throw it in too. $30 works for me, follow up in a PM

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 05-02-2012

Engine Shot,

Tape To Remind Me Where The Leaks Are.. Haha

I'm going to delete the A/C Completely, Probably leave the condenser and the fan in until I get a intercooler. Down in the valley in the 100+ heat the condenser fan does turn on, so I might have to figure out something...

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - JustPassinThru - 05-02-2012

Here's a brake booster and master cylinder, I pulled it from a '79 300TD non-turbo wagon on the way to plucking its front sway bar last...November? Odometer said 129K, the engine did look that clean, and the windshield, which I also took, was that new too. Gasket is shrunken though. What's it worth?

I've always thought these 123s would look great with a white lid like those new minis they're selling.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - lgreeley83 - 06-01-2012

I like the death cab. Any progress?

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-02-2012

Well, I rebuilt my master cylinder so it no longer soaks me in brake fluid. FYI, aftermarket clutch master cylinders don't work the rod is too long, so it doesn't bleed while it's connected too the clutch pedal.

I think you're on the right direction. Lowered, 17 inch rims, dark tint and Matte black 300TD would look hot. (no pun intended)

Spot on. This is good, no chome.at.all on that one. Very curious what your wagon would look like in the same outfit. No chrome except bumpers maybe? .....my personal asperations.....

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-02-2012

Yeah, rattle'd chrome wouldn't look that good. I want to wait till I can do a real paint job. But yeah AMG style completely blacked out with some euro's is the plan. Only set back is funding!

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-04-2012

I'm thinking john deer blitz black..

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-05-2012

Issues with the wheels I want,

The ones that are direct bolt-on are pre-merger Aero Monoblocks (in picture). Sets go from anywhere $1000-1900. Only ones in 16" & 17", if you can even find them. Or find some Aero II's only in 18"+ and have some spacers because of the 45mm offset on later cars. But you can find them for $500 or less. 3-Pieces (on the W124), don't even want to think about that.

Which is probably why that was the only picture I could find with a W123 with Aero Monoblocks. There is some crazy deep-dish copy's from europe but way too much hassle and $$$$.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - larsalan - 06-05-2012

I saw an audi today with stock rims that look just like those, except they had an audi stamp on the center cap.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-05-2012

Seems like you can get C36/C43 Aero II (replacements not OEM) for about $450 shipped 17x7.5 et 37 front & 17x8.5 et 30 rear. Probably need 10mm spacers all around.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 06-06-2012

More 'inspiration'

Hmm, what did I do to the car today. I got my main vac hose ordered. I need to get a rca to 3.5mm jack to finish my tunes. I'm going to try and stuff 4" speakers in the dash. Should probably get too that before I roll back down the mountain to the valley.

Here's the ones I went with from Lakeshore (now called tulip city wheels apparently) wheel and tire:
http://www.tulipcitywheels.com/images/wheels/replicas/mbz-98-hs.jpg
replica version of what you posted above I think...

although these would likely look awesome also (should be same ET, etc. as the ones that I run):
http://www.tulipcitywheels.com/images/wheels/replicas/mbz-98-bk.jpg

I dont have tristar centercaps, just the flat ones in the pics...tried to get some off fleabay, but they were wrong diameter... there is likely a set that will fit tho...one of these days ill give enough fux to measure it and research which ones will work...

I think mine were closer to the 800 mark shipped, but not having to mess with spacers was worth it for me...

Also, you get bonus points for working on it in the street

Yeah, Yeah.. I was waiting for the right moment.. Big Grin Wrenching in the street is a way of life for me, bonus points if you do it barefoot in the AZ heat on the blacktop.

Just snapped this real quick still need to adjust the drivers side a little and yes amber corners are on the way.

Going to lower it a little, but not too much. Putting the molding back on soon, painted black of course. Dark amber euro corners & a little headlight modding.

The Fuchs' were probably 14s, they did make 15s but they are rare & pricey, there are also a few companies now taking the centres out of damaged Fuchs' & using them to make 16 & 17 inch 3-piece wheels but those are expensive too.

Eh Porsche Fuchs?

[Image: %24T2eC16dHJGQE9noMbUMzBRTkwlgQEQ~~60_57.JPG]

I only have bundt's and AMG Monoblock Aero II's in 15x7

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Simpler=Better - 03-27-2013

You get your timing, injector pop, chain stretch correct yet? How 'bout them egt/emp and boost gauges?

Wheels don't make it go fast Big Grin

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 03-27-2013

Pulled my ALDA, put on a fram 8038 good enough for daily status. Don't have tools for pop-testing. Do need to check the chain-stretch going to do a valve adjustment soon, so I'll do it then. I would have a EGT gauge if they didn't cost $100+ >.< waiting for one to turn up on craigs. Current project goals right now is to get it to look right. For the wagon to go-fast I think I'm going to do a OM60X conversion, seems like the $ to HP is more reasonable and alot more options. Sure I would like to tinker with the MW pump. But I had to make the wagon look nice first. Smile

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Simpler=Better - 03-27-2013

I know how it goes I'm just jerking your chain Smile

You can get an auburn digital EGT readout for $60 and a K type thermocouple for around $15

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 03-27-2013

I'll tell you what does make it go-faster. Stripping out all the non-essential equipment, soon I'm going to pull out all the climate control crap. I want some manual window regulators, badly! Various other things Smile

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Simpler=Better - 03-27-2013

FI pulled everything climate in his fun car, it dropped around 80lbs IIRC

I believe the bundts were forged by Fuchs, yup, same place as the classic porker rims. They did all the nice merc wheels, IMO only of course!

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 03-27-2013

Yeah, I'm not a purest. If I could find good real AMG penta's in the right offset I probably would of gone with that never really been a fan of basket weaves, BBS or Rial. Cheap, easily available tires was one of my goals and well. It doesn't get much cheaper or easily available then 195/60r15. But I always wanted monoblock aero II's, so these meet all the required criteria.

The bundts are manufactured by Fuchs if they are original, so in MB circles (depending on country or region I guess?) when someone says Fuchs in reference to a Merc they mean Bundts, although Fuchs did manufacture most of the forged wheels used on Mercs.

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 03-28-2013

Only ever heard of them referred to as bundts in w123 land, I thought they were made by ATS at least I think mine are, and I'm a closet 911 fan so when you said fuchs I thought Porsche wheels!

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Eric78 - 03-28-2013

(03-28-2013, 12:04 AM)Kozuka I thought they were made by ATS at least I think mine are,
Ahh, from what I hear the ATS are cast instead of forged, I believe the situation with the ATS version of the bundt is that it was never fitted as original equipment on any Merc (except maybe early w201s), but it did become the factory replacement part.

Ok, might not be companies, might be back yard butchers but only a few weeks ago there were several sellers selling a bunch of them on ebay for around 2-3 grand a set, they seem to be gone now.

Indeed, i have a set of 190e cossie wheels that were forged by Fuchs. They are very light for alloys and as they are forged they should be stronger too. On freind of mine as an old 1950's Elva with mag wheels and they are unbelievably light!!!

RE: Kozuka's Death-Cab - Kozuka - 03-28-2013

Speaking of which, I have a real 190e 2.3-16 cossie that I'm swapping a turbo diesel into... Although lets just say my original wheels hold air but are curbed beyond repair & I mean bad, chunks missing & all. Meh, wish I had more money to get the w201 more along but it's just not in the cards right now. Soon it's going to move out of storage and into a garage so focus will shift back that way.
