HE221W ( HX27 HOLSET) 617A? - kmaser - 02-15-2012

Does anybody have any experience with an HE221W ( HX27 ) Holset turbo on an OM617A. I have Tomniks 6.5mm elements installed and looking for a turbo that spools close to stock but not choke the top end so much? I have also looked at HX30 but just seems to me that it would spool too slow but I'm not sure what too look for as far as flow rates etc.. I can't find much if any info on turbos for modified OM617's, most of the info is different turbos with stock pumps. If I didn't need to get more flow at highway speed (3500rpm) and was only off road I would stay with the stock turbo but its too choked and making too much heat at that RPM. My turbo is done and I need to get it back on the road ASAP. I would love some inputHuh

Thanks

I'll sell you my HY30W with the t3 adapter I made for it. It is slightly smaller than the HX30W. With 6.5 elements you should be able to turn that potato easily enough.

How did it spool on your engine and how much do you want for it, what kind of condition/shaft play?

It spools well on the stock 603 pump. Its in great condition, no play. It is still mounted on the car, I am trying to get a hold of a hx30w to replace it with. $200 with adapter (its t25 flange)?
