F/S 82 300SD near Chicago NEW PRICE - c0mbatphil - 02-12-2012
1982 Mercedes 300SD Turbo Diesel Automatic 155k Clean title.
Parked 7 years ago when the plates expired. Started working on it to turn into daily driver, but time constraints have stopped the project. New filters, front pads, front rotors, tires, rear rotors, rear pads, trans filter, trans fluid, oil. glow plugs and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting about. Fenders are removed but there. Both have damage. Engine is apart to clean it off and replace starter (never got done, but have brand new starter). Has some rust and a bit of body damage (little, nothing horrible.). Has been sitting again since the summer as I haven't had a chance to finish it and now I need the room and money. Needs to have starter installed, hood reinstalled, and 2 injector fuel lines replaced. Comes with some spare parts, brand new starter, 2 brand new batteries and some other misc. stuff. Consider this a project car. Has the venerable OM617 5cyl 3.0 diesel engine. At 155k, it's just getting broken in! Great car for a veg oil or biodiesel conversion. Have clean title. Definitely need pics.
Also, personally id put the starter and manifolds in and have a running car if that's all it would take. For the price you are looking to get, engine should be running and the car should be drivable, that would be a decent 1200 dollar car.
With it as described, sounds like a 500 dollar car or less honestly

ONE WEEK. Meet or beat the junkman's price of $325 picked up. Yes I could make more money parting it out... I have a baby on the way in less then 10 weeks and I'm in the middle of rebuilding a bunch of crap on my wife's car and remodeling a baby's room. Buy it. You make the profit off of it. Need it gone. it's in oswego. it's worth taking home, stripping what you want and scrapping the rest. could be done over a weekend for someone who had time. well worth it in drivetrain alone, not including the new stuff i put on it before it started sitting...

Its killing me. I want to tear into it. Busy finals week, no space, im in arlington heights area too. Not a quick drive. May have some time later in the week. I would buy parts from you. You would likely get the same money from the junk man afterword.
Proly take some from calipers, rotors. Pad, glow plugs. Etc. Pretty broke right now too. What day is junk man day?
The lack of interest is tough i know. Over the winter i had a 1982 Chevy Impala 9c1 for sale. It was a california fire department car, all original fire red paint, bull bar, antenna, original completely rust free boxy chevy. In the chicago area you know gangsters want this car to put 20" wheels on and whatever. I bough a few years back when still into gas powered 350 motors. car had 61,000 original miles. Car needed nothing. I ended selling it for 1700, radio and tires alone cost that much.
The bitch of it, in an inner city car lot i had seen a beat up boxy chevy for 5000 a few months prior. I wouldn't have paid more than 300 for and it sold in a couple of weeks.

i'd like to get rid of it in one go if at all possible. junkman day depends on what interest is in it. i REALLY do not want to scrap it. newer tires on it, new brakes, blah blah blah.

ok! manifold are off and some little odds and ends are off. fenders and hood are off. its got newer tires on it and has been sitting on jack stands. it'll roll freely right onto a trailer or onto a tow truck.
