om 617 NA convert to turbo - w123fan - 12-06-2011

hi everyone, i'm new here, does any one know what is the difference between 617A and 617 internally ? i mean the block itself, crank, connecting rods ? as far as i know there's the difference between pistons , camshaft and oil pump. thing is i want to put 617a internals into 617, is it possible ?

The 617a has piston oil squirters and a hardened crank and beefier rods and pistons the block is the same but you have to do some machining to fit the oil squirters

heads are the same except the turbo's had sodium filled exhaust valves

It will be a lot cheaper to find a different engine (617a) then to change the internals. I dodn't believe the crankcase is the same, check out the oil pump drive! Without the piston cooling, they just don't last! So you need everything from a turbo-engine to make a turbo-engine(?). That makes sense. Sure, you can use a 'SST' set up and upgrade your engine with the looks of a turbo engine, but don't expect anything more.

i'm not able to change whole engine, because according to the my country law engine would be too powerful, and it's illegal, thats why i want to change all the internals, to keep original engine number. i'm planing to run 2.47 diff, so i will need more power, but now i must find 617a for the start.

I'm sorry, the prechambers are bigger and have a round shaped tip, the camshaft is not the same too.
It wouldn't surprise me if there are more differences
