OM603 power hold backs - iheartboost - 10-26-2011

just trying to figure out what im going to need for some power.

obviously the turbo is too small, a better flowing manifold would be good, modified injection pump, intercooler, what not.

but what are some of the mechanical limits? like the pistons and rods will need to be replaced at what amount of hp.

the valves need to be this'ed or that'ed

but yea. just trying to get a feel for where some of the big power caps are.

from what ive heard the stock IP turned up is good to around 200 or so hp?

We have a cracked NA rod and heat damage in this thread:

Way more than 200hp though.

stock limits are close to 300hp where rods start bending.

Just replace rods with 606 rods and you can achieve higher then that. The head make sure it's not low number crack head. Replace valves and ect if your going to rev it higher then normal.

Pump, fit on a hx35 and you can get some great numbers.

Great. Thats exactly what I wanted to know. So my list will be rods, pump, turbo. Im happy with 5500-6000

RE: OM603 power hold backs - George3soccer - 10-27-2011

Who's building the pump?

RE: OM603 power hold backs - iheartboost - 10-28-2011

i plan for dieselmeken to build it. he has successfully done a 603 pump with 7mm elements. made some good power on stock set up. so with better stuff it will. well be better lol.

but i think finding a set of 606 rods will be the hard part.

I wouldn't worry about the rods to much the om603 turbo rods are pretty stout especially if your not revving over 6k and not making 300hp under 3000rpm with a large VNT

They should be fine for what your doing with it! I have seen some pushing 400hp at 6000rpm on stock turbo rods

gooooooood good to hear lol. makes the money it takes to get where i want less!

Yes plan I plan on having him play with the pump aswell. Still waiting for his response.

You should read my thread on my build. Lots if info that you've mentioned has been addressed.
