96-98 w140 300 td- 270/320 cdi conversion? - pizdameti - 09-22-2011

hey everybody im new!

im looking to buy a s300 td (it came with om606) and thought on doing it. now i wondered if its relevantly an easy swap. considering the 96-98 already has the elec' 722.6 tranny, how the rest of the elec' are matchable to the om61x cdi cars? in terms of cluster, sensors modules, esp, etc etc....
thanks!

Hi,

what you can do is to swap the entire engine and tranny with complete wiring and ECU from a donor car.
The 606 is already the best engine for the W140, in my opinion.

yeh but thats what im asking- what parts are already found in the w140 that the cdi ecu and CAN needs? if all the things are already in, then it will be an easy swap an although the 606 is great- you cant beat the cdi efficiency....

sorry to thread jack, but has anyone swapped a cdi into a w123?

Hi, you need the original wiring loom because of all the engine sensors.
Get it preferably from a car without automatic gearbox. You also need the original key, ignition lock , steering lock and original ECU because all these units are communicating with the ECU in order to "open" it up .
The wiring diagram from the donor car is also needed because you need to build in some relays and diodes in order to have it working. Good luck with the project. The CDI engines are very good. 6 cyl the best beast.

Will the CDI get better mileage than the om606? The om606 is defiantly capable of a lot more power
