Wade Performance Intake Kits - CJP28 - 08-16-2011

So I was surfing the web for parts for my 1979 Mercedes-Benz 300SD, and I came across a company called "Wade Performance Products". They manufacture performance air intake kits for different diesel mercedes models. & I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this company before? Is it true performance or just a bunch of money wasting crap? I'd like to hear y'alls opinions. Thanks guys.
This is the url to the company: http://wadeperformanceproducts.com/

Waste of money in My opinion

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - iheartboost - 08-16-2011

meh. on my cobalt yea. i forked over the money for an intake. on the merc with it being forced induction it dosent matter to much.

ill probably just end up putting maybe a small amount of tubing to run pcv and vac lines. but other than that there will be almost no intake.

Just like www.monstercraftsman.net

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - iheartboost - 08-16-2011

HOLY HELL! 160 for a fucking tube and filter. yeaa.... ill go make my own for 5 bucks and be happy.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - 98taco3 - 08-17-2011

Fit one out of a Dodge Ram into my car lol. Fit perfectly, didnt even have to cut it.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - winmutt - 08-18-2011

Where is ForcedInduction when you need him?

The stock filter system flows almost 2x what the engine can.

Paper filters > gauze.

Don't use gauze filters on a diesel.

What year dodge ram?

I've got a 240d oil separator waiting to go in the car... I'm just tired of the stock air box rattling in the engine compartment... I was going to do the tube/paper filter route pieced from one of those sceptre kits but if a stock dodge airbox fits that might work better haha...

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - winmutt - 08-18-2011

The 60x series dumps the oil right into the intake.....

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - iheartboost - 08-18-2011

yea. and when you have a good amount of blow by like <-- this guy.

your intake gets seriously dirty. my next mod before anything else is gonna be a dam catch can.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - Captain America - 08-18-2011

Fuck the catch can. Dump the blowby to the ground and run her HARD!

I had A LOT of blowby and after running her hard almost ALL of it went away. You should be able to find the video in my projects thread. The cap used to try and jump off the VC and now it doesnt even move

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - iheartboost - 08-18-2011

Hmmmm... Ill think about it lol

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - Oil Burner - 08-18-2011

If these kits had some kind of heat shield box that directed air right from the factory intake "Scoop" on the radiator support they would be nice other wise I agree it looks nice but not really worth it...however I did like the exhaust maniflod and turbo heat wrap thats nice! Big Grin

Enjoy the beauty of well engineered things. Leave it alone. Now, if you are planning on making a full on drag car then an air cleaner should be the last of your worries. Don't ask me how I know.

Once upon a time, an "old-timer" at a Rolex store looked astonished as a customer asked to have his Rolex watch upgraded with a better movement. "I get him now".

If you are doing it for the hobby and personal joy of tinkering around then do what suits you and disregard us all. There is always this HUGE part inside of me that wants to destroy and rearrange things. I am slowly moderating that urge. It has cost me too much money.

I elaborate further that what matters is the joy that u will get out of what you do. If you want a LOUD turbo whistle, then YES do it. No performance gained though.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - Captain America - 08-20-2011

Just remove the dam fog light for TRUE cold air induction

Hard to do with euro's... Angry

I did the fram 8038, and a spectre 3 to 2.5 reducer... I think I lost power on the low end, but made a little tiny bit above 3k.

The sound was worth it tho. Heart

My blow by is routed directly into the intake pre turbo. I had it running to the ground, but it smelled disgusting, and gave me headaches.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - Captain America - 08-22-2011

The sound alone is worth it to me also Heart

And to get the trash can out of the engine bay! Dodgy

Funny.
Here is something i have been playing with:

Off an 87 Saab 900:
Paid $10.00
Supposedly a steal on this vehicles.

Her is my idea.
Will mod/cut the inlet duct of an old W116 (as can be seen on pic) as the feed to the turbo with a silicone coupler of course. It is amazing how snug it mounts into that unique Saab exit. This thing fits perfect behind the front light and it is concealed and will have true cold air from the OEM scoop!. The wix filter I plan on using is rated at 315 CFM's. The OM617 Turbo according to F.I should be minimum 274 cfm @ 4500rpm and 9psi boost at 0 altitude so hopefully it should be fine.

Im still in favor of the stock UFO (trash can), as far as COLD induction is concerned but dont like that the turbo is right underneath and not easily accessible. I will make both air cleaners work and rotate them around.

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - Captain America - 08-23-2011

You could proby do a nice heat shield under the trash can to help a lot! just coat the whole damn thing in layers of aluminum foil hahahahahah

You're right, I highly agree with your point of view. Well said.

Have fun stockers with your boring mercedes. I'll be flying by with a fat grin on my face, may even hit a sweet jump lol

Where's the fun when you leave your car alone, untouched, virginized, BORINGHuh...Modify, Break, Fix, Improve, Live Happy...My PhilosophyCool

Yup!

RE: Wade Performance Intake Kits - smoke026 - 08-26-2011

I have blown up a many motors! 8)
I'm not afraid to push limits or hack cars up. the 1st motor I ever blew up was that of an early Porsche 911, then of a 914! I was 17 then. I'm 31 now.

I'm on the wildside too, the OM617 just does not do that for me, so I will just dial her in propper and learn as much about diesels for when I upgrade to something bigger.
