hi my name is callahan and this is my 240d

my grandparents bought this car new and i got it when i turned 16 and drove it most of high school. had it painted black for my 17th birthday. put a stereo in it did a few other odds and ends and beat the hell out of it typical high school story. now its sitting in my driveway in dire need of a new engine. now i'm 20 and my other projects are finally on cruise mode and i'm ready to dive into this one and be able to drive it again.

i'm ready to move on a used engine so if anyone can help or point me in the right direction that would be great. something in the GA AL area would be ideal. any help is appreciated

i was told only a 4 or 5 cylinder non turbo engine would fit the automatic tranny in my 240d is this true or will any w123 engine fit? i'm not too familiar with these engines so any info or advice would be awesome

thanks for looking

Callahan

The 4 cylinder will bolt in fine

The 5 cylinder turbo or non turbo needs the transmission moved back 4" and the drive shaft would have to be shortened and a different cross member used!

car-part.com is a great resource for finding a local use engine!

That is a sweet looking car!! The black looks really good on that.
I've used car-part.com to find stuff before, pretty handy.
