heavy "clunk" when going into 1st when slowing down. - randomdude - 06-25-2011

when i slow down to a stop, when it downshifts into first, i get a fairly heavy "clunk". the car does generaly shift a bit hard into second, and has a slight flare into 3/4. all which seems to be standard fare for these trans when they get a few miles on them. correct assumption? would a filter/flush/fill help? im sure i need to get the Msource pressure/setup kit and adjust it.

man that spring kit from smokedog&kens looks real nice, and sounds like it alleviates most of these issues. do you have to take the trans apart to install that?

thanks in advance Big Grin

vacuum line is connected to the trans and VCV?

The clunk is the driveshaft center support. Very good idea to replace it soon, if it breaks completely you won't be going anywhere over 15mph ask me how I know Big Grin

I believe the vacuum line going to the top tees and one leg goes to the trans modulator.

find a good picture of the modulator somewhere

It's tight between the body and trans. On the driver's side where you can just barely reach up to it and slide on the vacuum line or make a pressure adjustment.
