Spring Compressor - Gasoline Fumes - 02-21-2009

Will this style work on a W123?

The "official" one should be something like the attached picture. Yours will work, but I've never really trusted spring compressors with so few contact points. Springs store a LOT of energy when compressed.

Only if you want to shorten your life span. These work find on the back. On th front I had a friend who didn't listen to me, I believe he still hasn't patched the roof there the bolt went through when the threads failed.

OK, I guess I don't want a bolt lodged in my skull. So the ~$200 plate style compressors on eBay will do it? I don't have either one, but the hook style was tempting at around $25.

Check with a local NAPA, I think they offer the right style compressor for rent.

I didn't even think of renting one, thanks! I'll look around when I'm ready to do something with the springs.
