Is it necessary to clean the intake manifold after 80,000 miles in a turbo diesel OM616?

If the EGR and CCV are still hooked up it's got some gunk in it. Judging by the amount of buildup I have seen in ones that have 200k - 300k miles, you would benefit by cleaning it out. Not necessary but it couldn't hurt performance.

If the EGR has been disabled, no.

Thanks FI, EGR is not present as this is a Euro-I design, just a turbo, a PCV routed to air filter and thats it.

In that case it will just have a thin oil film. Nothing to worry about and no benefit to cleaning it out.

Many thanks FI, I was getting a bit paranoid. Problem is to open up the intake tract means touching all the turbo plumbing which I would only do it if its truly needed. It was quite easy to open up the intake tract of the N/A OM616 that I had earlier but this one looks to be a royal PITA.
